We’ve been working at the STEAMhouse in Digbeth lately where we have used the laser cutter to create stencils based on the designs from our Your Ideas workshops.
The example here uses four colours and four layers. The image is a vector tracing of a stitched collage made from feather and twig found in Matchborough Park.
This will be used as part of a stencil trail through the Redditch countryside.
On 8th August we ran a botanical drawing workshop with the talented Nicky Ashford at Forge Mill.
The standard of artwork was astonishing, with Nicky demonstrating how to “build” a drawing of a plant stem with measuring and looking at leaf direction and structure etc. In the afternoon people learnt how to use watercolour paints, exploring shade, colour and how to let the white of the paper shine through to create highlights.
Beautiful artworks, a really inspiring day! Thanks to everyone who came and of course, to our talented workshop leader Nicky Ashford.
